One of the last remaining members of the Sakakibara clan, son of the former Clan Head, Akihito, and his wife, Yui. Twin brother of Shiro Kobayashi. He went missing after the Sakakibara Clan Massacre, kidnapped by Obito as he retreated. Unlike Shiro, he didn't completely lose his memories.

He's a very androgynous person, with an uncanny resemblance to his twin sister, Shiro. He has the porcelain white skin characteristic of the Sakakibara clan and long, wavy hair. His expression is often neutral or slightly frowning.

Akiteru was watching the Harvest Moon in the early hours of the morning before his fifth birthday, right when Obito and Zetsu attacked Sakaki Village. Although initially affected by the large-scale genjutsu performed on the villagers, he woke up soon after. Due to his location, his father took longer to get to him and encountered Obito on his way.
When Akiteru faced Obito, he awakened not only the Hiryūmyaku but also the Kokuryūmyaku, and attacked him with it. He blacked out right afterwards.
Akiteru officially joined Akatsuki at age 13. He holds few memories of his past, but he remembers his sister, Akemi, vividly. He remembers she left him, and he's resented her ever since. He believes Obito (and Zetsu) saved him the night of the Sakakibara Clan Massacre and is incredibly loyal to him in particular.
Akiteru and Akemi are semi-identical twins, which means one singular egg was fertilized by two different sperms.
