Sakakibara Clan

Known as the Clan of the Cursed Blood, the Sakakibara clan was one of the most infamous clans in the Land of Fire and the Shinobi World. Six years after the Third Shinobi World War, they were slaughtered almost entirely overnight.

Early history

The Sakakibara clan and the Sakaki Village, their primary location, were founded before the main conflicts of the Warring States Period and have always been a neutral power in the Land of Fire. Their Kekkei Genkai inspired such fear that they were mostly left alone, since it is impossible to steal.

Despite their closed-off nature, they broke their neutrality to mediate between the Uchiha and the Senju clans and joined Konoha as an ally when it was first founded. The Sakakibara clan has a small compound within Konoha, but they never truly left Sakaki Village, which is about a day away from Konoha.

The children of the Sakakibara clan are taught the basic Academy curriculum in their own territory and sent to Konoha to take the graduation exam once they’re deemed fit for it and they join Konoha’s official forces. Ages vary, but they’re often younger than their graduating peers—depending on the era.

Downfall

Six years after the end of the Third Shinobi World War, on the eve of the Autumn Equinox, the Sakakibara clan was massacred almost on its entirety by Obito Uchiha and Zetsu. The reasons are unknown. Since it was the night before the twin heirs' fifth birthday (an important milestone in the Sakakibara clan) and the Autumn Equinox Festival, the whole clan was in the Village.

The twins, Akemi and Akiteru, went officially missing. Rei Sakakibara, who was just returning from a mission with his team, arrived in the early hours of the morning, just as the attackers were leaving, and managed to survive.
