Kaku is derived from the Japanese word for 'crane' or 'stork'.
Suzaku is made up of two kanji; su, meaning 'vermilion' or 'scarlet' and zaku, meaning 'sparrow'. Suzaku also refers to the mythological vermilion bird who rules over the southern heavens.
Kaku is a kunoichi of Konohagakure, a member of the Suzaku clan, and the leader of Team 4.
