Sōma’s training is shaped by two main influences.

Sōma was born into a minor Sunagakure family known for crafting and maintaining chakra tools, particularly fans designed for wind-style users. While not a prestigious clan, their work quietly supported many shinobi over the years. Growing up surrounded by these tools, Sōma became fascinated with how subtle differences in design affected airflow. Rather than pursuing raw power, they developed an interest in precision shaping of wind, experimenting with dual fans to create intersecting currents.
At the academy, this approach initially held them back. They lacked the overwhelming force expected of Wind Release users. But during a training exercise, Sōma demonstrated the ability to trap and redirect multiple opponents at once using controlled gust patterns, earning recognition and a place as a genin.
Sōma often tests new fan techniques during downtime, sometimes causing unintended sandstorms around the village outskirts. Their fans are custom-built and frequently adjusted, making each version slightly different from the last.
