Takaya Shimura

Takaya was born to Misato Shimura, the niece of Danzo Shimura. As she was a young mother and did not know who the baby's father was, she was shamed by many both inside and outside of her clan, but as Danzo's favorite niece he still had a soft spot for her even though he agreed with the sentiment that she brought the clan massive shame. When Takaya was 4 years old, Misato passed away from an illness and Danzo took the young child in. However, he saw he had a prime opportunity to mold the boy into his own successor for the future, as he had no heirs.

Takaya was soon placed within ROOT and given his own fellow ROOT member to bond with, a slightly younger boy. Over the summer, they bonded despite their training telling them to otherwise discard their feelings. When the two are finally put to battle to the death, Takaya feels as though he needs to take responsibility and kill his "brother", justifying it as freeing him from the hell that is ROOT and being the one to be stuck there instead.

At the age of 13, he killed Makoto Namikaze on Danzo's orders.

As he got older, he began to feel more stifled and wanted to rebel, often sneaking out when he could get away with doing so. During one of these jaunts, he ran into Hibana Uchiha and fell in love with her instantly. The two began a quiet friendship, although it was mostly out of pity on Hibana's behalf as she did feel a tinge uncomfortable with Takaya's affections toward her.

At the age of 20, Takaya burns down the Kamiya Clan Shrine on Danzo's orders.

Danzo confides to Takaya about the plans for the Uchiha Clan Massacre and soon after went to tell Hibana- although the amount of information he could actually divulge to her without the cursed seal Danzo had given him stopping him from being able to share too much. Still though, he urged her as much as he could to leave, offering to help take her somewhere to hide if need be- which, after a talk with Sayato, Hibana became obsessed with infiltrating the Hidden Mist and had Takaya help her integrate in there.

Takaya began to ask for more and more assignments related to Kirigakure and while suspicious, Danzo let it slide for the time being. The last time Takaya saw Hibana was a couple days prior to her carrying out the murders of Hitoshi Amagi and Akasu Satonaka, but when he visited Kirigakure next, he found bits and pieces of her disguise bloodied washed up against the shore, although there was no body to be found. From hereon out, he drowned himself in grief and resentment towards Sayato Yasuda, the boy who she was truly in love with and the impetus for this little revenge quest for Hibana in the first place.

He carried on with typical ROOT duties while balancing the fake life Danzo had curated for him to better integrate him into village politics as a future successor for him and to maybe even shoot for a position at being Hokage when all was said and done.

Eventually, Sayato Yasuda figures out with Kabuto Yakushi's help that Takaya was behind the Kamiya Clan Arson and divulges all he was able to gleam from Kabuto's infodump to a letter addressed to Haine Kamiya, the older brother of Sayato's student Yuno, who was departing from Otogakure as Orochimaru was too weak to fight or drag him back in his fragile state. Yuno, however, snoops the letter and finds out the truth for himself. He gives the letter to Haine when he makes it back home, but heads out on a revenge quest attempt that does not end well for Yuno.

Haine, beyond pissed off for not only his clan's shine getting burnt to the ground, his parent's death, but now his youngest sibling wounded severely, decides to finish what Yuno started and takes Takaya out once and for all.
