She was selected and trained to become a Living Vessel for a high-tier Oni-class entity. While her past is something Itsumi avoids talking about, one thing is often certain: she never wanted to become a Living Vessel.
During her active service, she operated as part of a controlled unit assigned to high-risk containment missions. Over time, she achieved a rare level of synchronization with Raikō, allowing her to function effectively despite the inherent dangers of her condition.
However, after repeated exposure to unstable environments and increasing awareness of the risks involved, Itsumi chose to retire from field operations. She redirected her focus toward research, aiming to improve the safety and stability of spirit-based systems within the Kōtsukage framework.
During a mission involving the containment of a destabilized chakra entity, Itsumi was accompanied by a designated vessel keeper, her sister Hikari. She was adept at maintaining external suppression and monitoring Itsumi's seals.
At a critical moment, Hikari grew careless and ignored the several warnings Itsumi gave on Raikō’s influence. The spirit consumed an excess of chakra and entered a heightened state, disrupting the balance between host, spirit, and external control.
The resulting loss of synchronization prevented timely intervention. Hikari was unable to reestablish control before the spirit consumed her chakra completely. Itsumi regained awareness only after the situation had escalated beyond containment.

She encountered him in the Archives, unauthorized and actively stealing. Instead of turning him in, Itsumi worked to aid him and pass along information. She's chosen to trust him over time, finding his charm cracking at the shell she's normally in.
First met him in the library after she was recently retired, slowly asking for his help more frequently over time on clan research. She learned to open up a little with time, finding a love for research and archival work.
