Childhood
After coming to Konoha, Ayane had gone through several tests to examine her fighting skills and intelligence. Later on, to keep an eye on her and to use her powers for Konoha, The Third Hokage assigned her an ANBU team that she needed to lead. Having to report directly to him, she had very few chances of going against Konoha. Her first mission was to recuperate everything she could from the Kageyama clan compound. After that, all her missions were with her life on the line. While being in the ANBU, she lost a lot of teammates, until she was assigned to Team Ro, under the leadership of Fox, who she later befriends. They both end up leaving the ANBU to become teachers for gennin teams, one because she wanted to, the other because he was forced by the Hokage, thinking a traumatised man can teach things to children. Kakashi ended up becoming a teacher faster than her, much to her complaints.
Adolescence
She becomes a teacher and is able to finally spend more time with her sister. She trains the kids as much as she can with all the knowledge she has. She ends up helping Senju Kei a lot because of the fact that he was a medical ninja and she has a lot of experience with it as a Kageyama. She shares as much knowledge about the Sharingan she learned from her days in the ANBU. She trains Aya as discretly as possible for their Kekkei Genkai.
Adulthood
During the Kazekage kidnapping arc, she is very involved in it. She argues with Tsunade who almost sends Naruto in the mission, making him stay back home. He listens to her since she was the only adult, except Iruka, actually involved in his childhood and who actually cares about him. She manages to stop the whole extraction of Shukaku by finding Itachi and Kisame, who end up having to leave the meeting and engage into a fight with her. With only 2 years of knowing her, Itachi is unable to completely overshadow her, and has to retreat, which she allows him to do. She also advices him to stop making Sasuke wait, and meet him soon.
During the fight between Itachi and Sasuke, Ayane and Aya, and Ran join the search for Sasuke. She also meets Tobi, who's chakra she clearly remembers from the day of her clan's massacre. She fights him and manages to surprise him by being able to land a hit. Before she's able to continue fighting, she feels a chakra slowly disappear so she moves faster than Tobi could, and gets Sasuke away from that place. She is the one who ends up telling Sasuke and Ran the truth about Itachi (something that Itachi ends up telling her). Sasuke stays in the village, because, again, shes the only one who was involved with him during his childhood, and she trusts her.
During the Pein arc, she gets saved by Aya and almost loses control over her Kekkei Genkai, the shadows slowly taking control of her. She comes back to her senses when Aya revives bcs of Naruto's talk no jutsu.
After the war, she retires as a shinobi and ends up opening a shop.
