愛彌 — 愛 means "love, affection, to cherish." & 彌 means "long, more and more, widely."
Nara Aya (or Kageyama Aya) is a Shinobi of Konohagakure's Nara clan. Aya and her sister, Ayane, came to Konoha when Aya was just five years old; though not many villagers know the truth to their appearance in Konoha, they welcomed them with open arms and big smiles. She becomes part of Team Ayane after graduating from the Academy, and embarks on a new journey where she figures out what happened to her original clan, and who destroyed it.

Aya is a very cheerful person. She tends to look out for others more than after herself, which usually means she gets hurt a lot more than her teammates during missions. She loves with every cell of her body, always making sure to show it through everything she can.

Above average. The Kageyama were known for a huge reserve of chakra.
The Kageyama's use meditation as a way to train, which results in extremely good chakra control for all their members, however, Aya had a hard time controlling her chakra, as most of their clan techniques were lost, and she only had Ayane to teach her.
Once she unlocked the second stage of Aokoku Release, she is able to use Shadows to move from one place to another, which makes her incredibly fast. However, this technique requires a lot of chakra, so she needs to be careful when she uses it.
Aya awakened her Kekkei Genkai when she was 6 years old, which is not that common for the Kageyama's. She had trained moderately even before that, but in order to keep the Shadows under control, she had to go under a very intense training schedule created by Ayane, who supervised everything (when she wasn't there, Shikaku, or some Nara elders, used to take her place).
Before the Fourth War, she is mostly helping her teammates as a support from afar, providing back-up when being targeted from behind. Aya mostly uses her clan techniques as a way to sense danger before it surprises them.
Incorporates clan techniques in Taijutsu, tries to finish the fight as soon as possible.

Shadow possession jutsus, passed down to her by her Clan. While it is not their jutsus, due to the similarity in the Kageyama Clan and the Nara Clan, both are able to use it.
Shadow sense: can sense a person by their shadow when it is in the range of her senses. It gets larger thru training and meditation.
Shadow Teleport: as long as there's a shadow, the Kageyama Clan are some of the fastest shinobi.
Darkness Teleport, possession, sense: during the night all of the above get enhanced, allowing them to have a wider range & be faster.

Aya is the youngest daughter of the head of the Kageyama Clan. She has 2 siblings much older than her — Ayase, who was 17 years old when she was born, and Ayane, who was 15 years old when she was born. She is pampered with love by her entire family, including all the clan members. Although they didn't expect a third child, they loved her deeply. Ayase was always spoiling her, letting her get away with anything, while Ayane was extremely happy she wasn't the youngest anymore.
All of that changed drastically after her family was massacred when she was 5 years old. Ayane and Aya end up running to Konoha to find refugee, and they adopt the Nara name as a way to protect themselves. Only a few people outside the Nara compound are aware of who they really are. Ayane joins the ANBU and Aya is taken care of by Yoshino when she is on missions. Before her sister finishes the Academy, Ayane leaves the ANBU.
She joins a team with her sister as the sensei, together with Uchiha Ran and Senju Kei. She goes in different missions before the chunnin exam. During the Gaara first appearance in the village, she ends up bumping into him while she was running towards Naruto, he proceeds to attack her while her back was towards him, when her shadow protects her. Gaara ends up wanting to kill her after that. She does not become a chunnin, but during the preliminary rounds after the forest of the death she is against Uchiha Ran, who she ends up winning against. She is not able to fight in the finals.
During the Sasuke running away arc, she is on a mission with her team, except Ran who was taking care of Sasuke who was in the hospital. When they return to the village, Ayane loses her mind as the only shinobi sent after Sasuke are 12 years olds, and she follows after them. Aya waits with her team and Sakura for Ayane, Naruto, and Shikamaru to come back.
She almost dies during the Pein arc, during the shinobi war arc she is finally using her full power.
After the war, her relationship with Shikamaru and Naruto develops more, and they all get married. They end up having two twin girls.
When Aya arrived in Konoha, the first person she met was Shikamaru, because she only woke up after they finally arrived at Shikaku's residence. She found Shikamaru quite funny, even though the boy didn't try to be. She became attached to him very fast, and they slowly became inseparable.
Their relationship developed romantically only after the Fourth War, as Aya had other things that she deemed more important through-out her teenage years.
Aya and Naruto met during the mask incident when they were young. Aya and Ayane were grocery shopping that evening, when they suddenly saw a crowd form around a shop, so they decided to check it out. Both of them had jumped into action the moment they realized that the villagers were basically bullying a small little kid. While Ayane dealt with the adults, Aya helped Naruto on his feet, and moved away from the crowd. They decided to have dinner with Naruto; and that's how they became extremely close.
Just like her relationship with Shikamaru, they started realizing their feelings for each other only after the Fourth War.
