伶 "clever, performer" + 心 "heart, mind, core"
The dominant 鬼塚 spelling — literally "demon mound" — is one of the most dramatically charged of all Japanese surnames, deriving from local legends of mounds said to contain the bones of defeated demons (oni) or to mark sites of ritual demon-banishing ceremonies.
Dealer-Nin are a special force of shinobi original Kesshogakura. They are assigned to protect the business dealings of Kessho, primarily in the casino hence their namesake. Dealer-Nin are trained to detect cheats and thieves within the casino. Because of this, all Dealer-Nin are required to have some type of dojitsu or some other special technique they can rely on to check for cheap tricks and counterfeit cards. The most common in Kessho's Dealer-Nin force being of course, Raygan. All Dealer-Nin specialize in using small object projectiles with pin-point accuracy. They are taught to use the ordinary objects around them with deadly efficacy. This means that Dealer-Nin often use things like playing cards and poker chips as their weapons of choice. They're already abundant at the casino...and well...since Dealer-Nin are games dealers and running the games, they're usually right at their fingertips.

Reishin is playful, shamelessly flirtatious, and constantly smiling like he knows something nobody else does. He enjoys teasing people just to watch their reactions and speaks in layered meanings that make it difficult to tell when he is joking or being serious. Despite his mischievous nature, he is emotionally perceptive. Years spent reading people taught him how to recognize loneliness, insecurity, and desire almost instantly. He dislikes cruelty disguised as strength and has a habit of defending outsiders and social outcasts. Underneath the charm, however, is someone deeply wary of attachment. Reishin learned early that affection can be transactional, and he struggles to believe people value him for anything beyond what he can provide.

Reishin specializes in psychological warfare. Rather than overpowering opponents directly, he destabilizes their emotions, perception, and focus through layered genjutsu and distraction tactics. His movements resemble a dance more than traditional combat, weaving around attacks while creating openings through misdirection. He prefers close conversational range, where his chakra-infused voice and eye contact can subtly influence an opponent’s reactions.
Reishin was born in the lower entertainment districts of Kirigakure, his father a Mononobe Guard from Jingūgakure. When his mother sent word of her pregnancy to his father, the man never sent a reply. His mother raised him the best she could under the circumstances, being a lady of the night, and filled Reishin's days with stories of seeing the world outside. Despite her efforts, Reishin saw just how transactional people often were. With no official clan or family protection, survival often depended on beauty, wit, and adaptability.
As an older teen, he became an escort in underground teahouses frequented by merchants, shinobi, and corrupt officials. This environment sharpened his understanding of human behavior and secrets. A retired kunoichi later discovered his unusual chakra sensitivity and trained him in genjutsu and infiltration arts. Reishin eventually became a specialist used in espionage missions where violence would jeopardize political stability.
After leaving Kirigakure, Reishin spent several years wandering through the underworld hidden between the Five Great Nations. During this period, he discovered that casinos functioned much like shinobi villages in miniature. Every table was a battlefield of tells, lies, greed, desperation, and hidden intentions. Wealthy merchants, missing-nin, corrupt daimyō officials, bounty hunters, and spies all gathered under one roof believing themselves relaxed and untouchable. To Reishin, it was the perfect environment for information warfare. Eventually, his travels brought him to Kesshōgakura, a hidden gambling village built underground illuminated by endless crystals and neon-colored chakra signs.
For the first time, Reishin saw a shinobi system built entirely around the talents he had once been shamed for possessing. Charm, observation, deception, emotional awareness, performance. In Kesshō, those abilities were not weaknesses or survival tricks. They were respected as legitimate weapons. Eventually, Reishin found an offer to train as a Dealer-nin himself. His transition was almost seamless. He learned advanced probability calculation, behavioral profiling, coded gambling signals, and specialized chakra control techniques designed for crowded casino environments. He became particularly feared for his ability to “read” tables. Veteran gamblers claimed Reishin could tell when someone intended violence simply by how they stacked poker chips. Others swore his smile alone was enough to make people accidentally reveal secrets they never intended to share.
Over time, Reishin evolved into one of Kesshōgakure’s most valuable operatives: a fox hidden beneath velvet lights and shuffling cards, gathering secrets while pretending only to entertain.
