Kaori Yuki

Kaori was born into a life of poverty. Her father was a survivor of the civil war who chose to remain in hiding. Kaori's mom was just a normal working-class villager. Kaori was an accident as her father didn't want a child with his bloodline. After seeing all of his own family and friends killed off for their kekkei genkai, he just wanted to live a quiet life in the back allies. Fate sometimes has other plans though, and Kaori was born. Her father not pleased, often kicked the young girl out of the house to wander the streets.

It's not known how the Mizukage found out about Kaori's family (considering how reclusive her father was) but eventually someone did find out that they were from Yuki Clan. Jonin were sent to her home as a result, specifically to recruit Kaori into the shinobi academy. The current Mizukage being more progressive than the ones of the past, wanted to reintroduce Ice Release into their ranks. Kaori's father happily accepted the Mizukage's generous offer in exchange for his daughter. He essentially sold her for a better life. Who needs him anyway?

So, Kaori began studying at the Kirigakure ninja academy. She quickly learned basic Water Release techniques and was able lead her team to victory during the Chunin exams. Still, there was a problem. Kaori had no one to teach her Ice Release techniques, the very kekkei genkai that she had been recruited for in the first place. Most of the Yuki Clan's training scrolls had been destroyed during the civil war. Thankfully she managed to get special written permission from the Mizukage to browse their personal collection. Kaori's team leader was helpful in her training but she had to work hard to rediscover techniques that hadn't been used in decades. There were also still a lot missing and the scrolls she did have access too were often censored. This caused Kaori to fill in the gaps on her own and develop her own techniques. Specifically Kaori created, Aisu Figua, a technique that resembled ice skating by creating icey blades around her boots. She became proficient at this, able to travel across Kirigakure in record speeds.

All of Kaori's self-study was not without its faults. Not having a proper mentor did show in the form of the negative side of her abilities. The Yuki Clan is known for being very cold resistant. However, their kekkei genkai can cause them to work with tundra-like temperatures. Even with their natural resistance, dealing with sub temperatures can be dangerous. This couldn't be more true for Kaori who was practicing her abilities regularly. It became very common for her to get frostbite on her hands and feet, making it hard for her to sign when it gets really bad. Thankfully in the village she has plenty of access to healers and her cold resistance does make it subside quickly. However, this could put her into danger during missions where she has to be away from the village for a long amount of time. For that reason, it has become Kaori's goal to continue to perfect her techniques until sub-zero temperatures no longer effect her.
