Kenta Utatane is the oldest grandson of Koharu Utatane and older brother to Shoma Utatane. His parents were ANBU agents, with his dad eventually dying in the line of duty shortly after Shoma's birth and his mother having retired to be a stay at home mom when Kenta was born.
As a young genin, he was placed in a team with a shinobi who would later come to be known as Shinkiro, and Kaede Asakura. Kaede and Kenta always had a will they-won't they type dynamic going on but never acted on those potential blooming romantic feelings. He soon advanced through the ranks of chunin and then later made a name for himself as a tokubetsu jonin.
While on a mission, he runs across an Akatsuki affiliate, Yuji Hana. However, she bests him but spares his life and he starts becoming obsessed with finding her again. The two begin to have more and more frequent run-ins, but eventually Kenta needs to make the choice between her and Kaede...
