Denji wears black clothes with red accessories. His younger sister loves putting stickers on his face, so every day he would have a new design. She also loves making flower crowns, so every time Denji goes on a mission, she makes sure to gift him one for good luck.

His outfits consist of a lot of long sleeved shirts that he keeps to his elbows when not in a fight.
As a child, Denji acts exactly according to his age. He gets sulky, pouts, gets excited over the small little things, looks up to his clan's members. He doesn't change much when he grows older, however he gets calmer and a bit more mean and blunt. He speaks his mind whenever he wants to, doesn't fear telling the truth as it is.

although his chakra reserves are average, he can build more chakra as he fights with the help of his bugs; he rarely runs out of chakra mid-fight.
his chakra control is unmatched in his generation, even the older generations acknowledged it.
his talent was recognized since the Academy days, which made him graduate faster than his peers. During the Chunnin Exams, Denji won the fight in barely one minute by simply suing his bugs as a shield until the venom inside his opponent took its effect.
his speed was always his weakness, but with the help of one of Shino's friends, Rock Lee, he was able to surpass his mental blockage that kept holding him back.
he trains a lot in Taijutsu, as his cousin, Shino, told him it's very important for ninjas to be able to use any skill possible in a fight; even if he trusts his bugs a lot, he kept Shino's in his mind the whole time.

Denji was at the top of his class the entire time he was in the Academy for every subject except Taijutsu. He showed great potential, making the Hokage at that time allow him to graduate faster.

Denji was born on the second day of the Fourth Shinobi War, prematurely. He was supposed to be born around three weeks later, however the stress and agitation of the war induced an earlier birth. Denji was an extremely happy baby, able to make the shinobis that came back home from the battlefield smile even when they wanted to cry. His birth was compared to seeing the sun after a week full of thunderstorms. Due to the damages of the war, Denji didn't get to have his insect ritual until months after his birth.
Shino, specifically, took a very big liking to his cousin because he was an only child. The age difference made a big impact on it. Shino was the one who trained Denji since he was able to start training, and he spent a lot of his free time hanging around him. Denji got to meet Kiba and Hinata because of that. Out of the two of them, Denji loved Akamaru the most.
When his younger sister was born, he became even more happy and cheerful as he wanted to make Hirari happy all the time. Denji spent a lot of time with her when he wasn't training.
Even though he had a fast training progress, his parents enrolled him in the Academy when he was seven years old, as they wanted him to have a normal childhood before he started going on missions. When he graduated earlier than his peers, his parents were against it, however they couldn't exactly say anything to the Hokage.
When he graduated at the same time as Itoshi, and was placed in the same team as him, Denji was very happy. He didn't know the Hyuga guy, but that didn't matter much to him. For two years, the team spent their time building up their teamwork and going on missions, and only when Denji as eleven did the team participated in the Chunnin exam.
During the Chunnin exam, Denji did very well during the written exam, and during the fights he had an easy time getting in the last eight. He was promoted as a Chunnin even though he didn't win the quarterfinals.
Denji was the last one from his team to be promoted to Jonin when he was 18, and he felt a bit left behind since the other two were able to go on missions without him, however that didn't affect him much.
What affected him a lot was having a huge crush on Keigo, that started developing since the Chunnin exams. Keigo was far from being his type, but he couldn't stop himself from falling for the Hyuga. The way Keigo treated his older brother was simply wrong to Denji, and he hated himself for liking Keigo that way.
He did managed to get over the crush after a while, however it took longer than he wanted it to.
When he was 21, he became an ANBU, even to his parents' complains, and he got a different team (which helped a lot with his crush). Denji, Itoshi, and Keigo still kept up with each other and met a lot when they weren't in missions.
Denji stayed as an ANBU until he was around 30 years old, and then decided to go back to being a Jonin. Naruto wanted to give him a genin team, but he didn't want it. He said that he preferred following orders rather than giving them, and that he was not good with children anymore (his sister was older as well, so he didn't know how to act around kids anymore).
Because they were living during a time of peace, there weren't that many dangerous missions to go on, so he spent most of his time doing escorting missions, which became rather boring quickly. That made Denji decide to take a part-time job at the Yamanaka flower shop.
Once he did that, he realised just how much time Itoshi spent at the flower shop, or so he believed. Ino made sure to tell him that Itoshi never visited he shop when Denji wasn't there. That was the first step towards a relationship that Denji never imagined but suddenly desired.

He knew Itoshi since they were very young because their families are friends. Itoshi is older than him and he always felt very safe around him. He was the first person Denji told about his crush on Keigo when he was 13. They end up dating when they were both in their 30s.
Denji absolutely hates himself for liking Keigo, like badly. The two of them have a very weird relationship, one time they hate each other, the next second they are planning their next prank on Neji-sensei.
