Barasu Momotsuki

Barasu was born in Kusagakure, although he doesn't remember too much of life there before his father decided to start his own hidden village, Baragakure. His mother died when he was young.

Raised and groomed to be the heir-apparent of Baragakure, Barasu diligently trained under his father's strict guidance. Eventually as he got older, his father fell into Jashinism and decided to use Barasu for experimentation on immorality. This backfired, however, and Barasu was left with permanently but slowly over time rotting flesh.

In anger at his father for experimenting on him, Barasu set the entire village of Baragakure ablaze, leaving himself as the only survivor. After this feat, he was recruited to the Akatsuki for his efficiency in slaughter.

Within the terrorist group, he bonded with Sasori and Deidara when it came to art and sort of plays peacemaker between the two at times, and had the two help him start to cover up his rotting features, with Sasori making him a prosthetic arm and Deidara using clay to help cover up the decay on his face. To Barasu, his motto is "art is suffering" and as such, this is the one thing that keeps him tied to Jashinism. As such, he also gets along with Hidan to an extent, but the two hardly get chances to work together as Hidan's immortality makes him a better suited partner to Kakuzu.

After Sasori's death, he vows to defeat Orochimaru, both for avenging/carrying out Sasori's will as well as for his own personal revenge given Orochimaru's role in how he turned out, however, he ends up defeated by Sayato instead and has to make a hasty retreat.

Barasu meets his end a little after Deidara's death when Barasu kills Jūri Hyūga and in turn is killed by Jūri's daughter, the revenge-seeking Zera. However, he briefly comes back when revived by Kabuto due to the Edo Tensei.
