Coming from a family with well-known parents and older siblings made it hard for her to step out of their shadows. Her father was well-known for being skilled in combat—an intimidating shinobi—while her mother was well-known for her wit. What didn’t help was that she had two older sisters and one older brother who essentially excelled in various areas as well, leaving little to no room for her to shine and resulting in her fading into their shadows. One of her older sisters ended up becoming a Medical-nin, the other became a sensor-nin, and her brother became a courier ninja. As a child she was always compared to her family members—mainly her siblings—and her parents would always be brought up. However, no one truly knew much about her except for surface-level knowledge. Her family was quite strict—always expecting her to do the best in school, and being disappointed in her when she wasn’t. Her parents would also be very “hot” and “cold,” with her depending on their mood—which resulted in her walking on eggshells when interacting with others, always gauging their responses and answering in ways the other person would want her to. In addition to that, it caused her to realize that love towards her is something that is given with conditions—even if her love towards others is earned unconditionally. She’s extremely self-sacrificing to a fault—putting the well-being, need, and health of others before her own since it would be “selfish,” of her if she put herself first. Since she was the youngest she was also always underestimated and not taken seriously—which resulted in her not believing in herself and second-guessing herself constantly. She also repressed her emotions a lot—having her sadness and anger invalidated and chastised, so she mainly exhibits happiness and/or a smile since she would get positive reinforcement from that instead. When she was young, she stuck to walls like shadows themselves—blending into the background. Many forgot of her existence entirely, and some didn’t even know her name. Instead of interacting with her classmates, she would oftentimes stick to her teacher. She would help out in class while everyone else would be playing during recess. She was extremely shy and quiet.
