Sanjirou has always been a healer - he has aimed for this since he was little. He has a deep knowledge in natural poisons and the body, and this does make him a good Taijutsu fighter (he's no Hyuuga but pressure points still exist).
Sanjirou is a very talented medic-nin, able to work under pressure and quickly.
From the age of 12 until 15, Sanjirou trained under Minato - he learned Space Time Ninjutsu, perfecting travel over all other movements. Combining his Space-Time Jutsu with his healing, Sanjirou can fool others into thinking he is truly traveling back in time (it is not a long term battle tactic, but helps confusing people). He can also do this with others, but of course has to travel with them. Sanjirou is not as skilled at transporting things he can see or is not touching.
